According to the general rule, one can apply for the Armenian citizenship if he/she is over 18, is legally capable, during last 3 years resided in Armenia on the legal bases /holds Armenian residency/, can be expressed in Armenian and is familiar with the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia.

On March 1, 2018, the 1980 Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction entered into force between Armenia and the United States. Although the Convention entered into force for Armenia since 1 June 2007, the collaboration with the United States until this time was not considered.
