According to the legislation of the Republic of Armenia, everyone having a spouse who holds Armenian citizenship or Special residence permit, who secure with shelter and finance and lived in Armenia with legal bases at least for three years is eligible to apply for a permanent residence card.

The permanent residence card is being issued for 5-year period.If the holder of the permanent residence card gets divorced during that period then he/she will lose the residence permit as well.
This regulation is aimed to prevent fake marriages in Armenia.
However, there is an exception from the general rule for the cases if it is proved that the marriage has lasted more than a year and that the holder of permanent residence card has been living in Armenia for at least one year.
