The new Article 6.1 provided that payments made and received for the transfer of a cryptoasset, or for acquiring ownership of it on other grounds, must be non-cash, regardless of the amount payable. The Law was scheduled to enter into force on 1 January 2026.
At the same time, Article 589 of the Civil Code of the Republic of Armenia was supplemented with a provision prohibiting the transfer of goods or property other than cryptoassets in exchange for a cryptoasset under a barter agreement. An agreement concluded in breach of this requirement was void.
