Chaired by Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan, a consultation was held in the Office of Government to discuss the process of developing a set of measures aimed improving the business environment by the working group established in accordance with the Prime Minister’s instruction. The meeting was mainly targeted to the development of Doing Buiness Ranking of Republic of Armenia in Future Reports administered by World Bank.
DB 2018 overall Rank is 47 for Armenia.
For the comparison our neighbour Georgia is ranked 9 in Europe and Central Asia (ECA) on the ease of doing business.
The proposed measures are aimed at simplifying the administrative procedures required for starting and developing business, promoting SMEs, protecting investors, facilitating the issuance of construction, urban development-related permits, introducing electronic systems, easing access to credits, enabling simplified property registration procedures and providing infrastructure.
He also spoke about the weak spots in Armenia. According to Karapetyan, these are the judicial system, procedures for the bankruptcy process of the companies and financial (credit) accessibility.
Prime Minister Karapetyan told the responsible officials to submit an accurate timetable of activities in all target areas within a week’s time.
